19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player secured his first championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term coach Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden championship since the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent rescued four initial opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, he secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
